Acropolis Runs For Mayor Under Cloud Of Conflicts
Stephen Acropolis,
Resident CEO For Axis-Of-Greed: Brick Division, Runs For Mayor
In Wake Of GOP Budget Scam, 234% Camp Fee Hikes, ’03
Campaign Cover-Up By Cartine, Scaturro, & Funding Questions
From GOP Political Payoffs, Bilotta, Wolfe Payola Issues
Brick Council President Stephen
Acropolis, a Republican, will run against Democratic Mayor
Joseph Scarpelli despite a cloud of controversy generated by
contradictory answers to questions raised by OCP
involving allegedly inaccurate claims in Acropolis campaign
fliers.
Acropolis
Promised Cartine Cooperation
Which Did Not Materialize
Acropolis, who said he doesn't
keep copies of his campaign publications, said a few months ago
that his campaign manager, Allen E. Cartine, would make the
campaign fliers available for inspection, but Cartine declined
to return numerous phone calls from OCP reporters who
wasted a lot of time trying to track Cartine down.

Mayor Scarpelli |
Cartine
Appointment Opposed By Scarpelli
Cartine was recently rewarded by
Acropolis and the GOP council majority with a four year
appointment to the Brick Housing Authority, a designation that was
opposed by Mayor Joseph Scarpelli, who noted federal law
requires that the position be offered to someone who lives in
an authority unit, which Cartine does not.
Was Shea
Involved In Acropolis Fund Raising?
Acropolis Says He "Can't Remember"

Robert Shea |
Also troubling is and assertion
that Acropolis says he “can’t remember” whether pay-to-play megabucks
attorney Robert Shea was involved in fund raising for the 2003
council campaign.
234% GOP Camp Fee
Increase For Brick Kids
Another issue Acropolis will
need to address is the 234% increase in summer camp fees for
Brick kids Acropolis pushed through over strenuous objections
from Scarpelli and the Democrat council minority.

Jos. Bilotta |
Other issues include
conflict-of-interest and collusion allegations involving
Acropolis’ partner, Joseph Bilotta, a commissioner on the
Dover Municipal Utilities Authority, and alleged promises by
Axis-Of-Greed County Chairman George Gilmore to “spend a
million dollars if necessary” to get Acropolis elected mayor.
Mayor Scarpelli had very little
to say about the Acropolis mayoral candidacy, but the GOP
candidate is unlikely to face any opposition in the Republican
primary election scheduled for Tuesday, June 7th.
